Through a familiar scene of childhood play, Keep A Lid On It explores what lies beneath the surfaces we take for granted. Children play in a playground while parents watch on, unaware of the layer of discarded plastic buried beneath their feet.

The title becomes a reflection on our tendency to contain, conceal and move on from what we no longer want to see. Beneath this seemingly innocent landscape lies a hidden accumulation of used plastic lids; small, everyday objects excluded from kerbside recycling systems because of their size.

The playground becomes a metaphor for how former waste sites can be capped and transformed into places for recreation and community. What was once discarded is not gone; it simply lies beneath the surface.

Quietly unsettling, the work invites us to consider what we bury, what we forget, and what remains beneath the places where we live, play and gather.
